Easter Bunny

The backyard is one of my favorite places. There are so many levels allowing me to jump up and down. There are so many plants each with different smells. I love running in and out and around all of them.

Recently I noticed a new smell amongst the ground cover. It was so strong and sweet. I was overwhelmed and had to search it out. I found it was a small, furry creature that smelled so good. I scooped it up and ran over to show off my great find.

All I heard was “No Sir!! Drop it!” It was so hard to overcome the powerful desire to taste this new find but I know I have to mind the “No Sir” command. I gently laid the little one down on the ground.

It’s just not fair. The bunny was my find, not theirs. They stroked it and took pictures of it but I wasn’t allowed to even sniff it again. The bunny was placed back in the nest and that was that.

My backyard runs were over for a while. I heard them say the bunny’s Mom came back to take care of it. As soon as I was able to go back outside, the bunny was gone. I could still sniff a faint smell but I haven’t been able to find it again.

I’m hoping I’ll get a bunny on Easter morning. This time I’ll keep it all to myself.
